Essential Services: Variation of Previous Designations and Designation of Health Products, 2025

A.

Notice is hereby given in terms of section 71(8) of the Labour Relations Act, 1995 (Act No 66 of 1995 as amended), that under section 71(9) the Committee has varied the following designation:
1.The designation rendered by the Committee on 12 September 1997, under GN R1216 GG 18276 in relation to municipal health, is hereby varied to read as follows—
a)Municipal Health services as defined in the National Health Act 61 of 2003 including public primary health care are designated as essential services.
2.The designation rendered by the Committee on 11 May 2018, under GN 41621 in relation to mud guards and team leaders at tailing dams, is substituted with the following designation—
a)All the services that are necessary for the building and/or construction, maintenance, risk management, including monitoring, inspection and reporting at tailing dams to ensure the integrity, safety and stability of the deposition sites/and or tailing dams are essential services.
b)All the services performed in hydro mining that relates to ensuring the integrity of the water management system which includes monitoring and inspecting pipelines to ensure the integrity of the slurry delivery pipes, valves and water lines that must be inspected in order to timeously identify non-conformance and immediately rectify the same, are essential services.

B.

Notice is hereby given in terms of section 71(8) of the Labour Relations Act, 1995 (Act No 66 of 1995 as amended), that under section 71(7) the Committee designates the following services as essential:
1.Monitoring, evaluation, investigations, inspection and registration of all health products (including medicinal and scheduled substances) for human use, medical devices, in vitro devices including radiation control.
