Animals - Pawperies - Dog - Liability of Owner for Injury done by dog to a Person in a Public Place

 

Case summary

A dog is ferae naturae, and therefore its owner is liable for damages it may occasion by biting another person in a public place such as a public park provided that the injury be not brought about substantially by the fault of the person bitten
(Le Roux and others vs Fick, 1897, Buch. 29 followed).
