Case summary

The S.A. Garrison Institute at Roberts' Heights, Pretoria, was entitled under Ord. 32 of 1902 to supply members of the Institute with liquor without a liquor licence. On application by the manager of the Institute for leaye to sell the liquor on hand owing to the departure of the garrison from Pretoria, the Court, under sec. 2 (3) of Ord. 32 of 1902, appointed the applicant as receiver and manager to liquidate the business and realise the assets as far as they consisted of liquor; the realisation to be by public auction in Pretoria in quantities not less than were authorised to be sold under wholesale liquor licence; applicant to report to the Master and not to pay over the proceeds without his consent.
