Defamation.'' Pimp.'' -Rixa.-Compensatio.

Case summary

The ·word "pimp" is pri-ma facie defamatory, and not merely a term of abuse. A plaintiff, in a quarrel, called the defendant a by bastard " ; the defendant retorted "you are a pimp." Persons present remonstrated with the defendant, who replied: "I can prove it.'' Held, under the circumstances, that the word "pimp" was defamatory perse. Held, further, that there was compensatio,
and that an appeal from a magistrate's judgment in favour, of the
defendant should be dismissed.
