Directive 1 of 2013: Updating of registration details of accountable and reporting institutions

General Notice 231 of 2014

The Financial Intelligence Centre (the Centre) issues this directive in terms of section 43A(1) of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 2001 (Act 38 of 2001).This directive applies to all accountable and reporting institutions updating their registration details as required by section 43B of the FIC Act.

1. Purpose of the directive

1.1The Centre issues this directive to prescribe the manner in which a registered accountable institution or reporting institution must notify the Centre of updates to its registration details as required by section 43B(4) of the FIC Act.
1.2All registered accountable institutions or reporting institutions are required to update their registration information on the Centre’s website, rather than informing the Centre in a letter or electronic correspondence.

2. Directive

This directive is effective from date of publication in the Government Gazette.
2.1All registered accountable and reporting institutions must update their registration details by submitting the relevant information to the Centre electronically by means of the internet-based reporting portal referred to in Regulation 27A(4) of the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Control Regulations.
2.2No other means of submitting the relevant information to update registration details will be an acceptable manner of updating registration details.
